October, already! Yikes where did this year go!?!
As many of you are aware, the local Real Estate Market in King county has been extremely active and fast paced this year. As we settle into the Fall, inventory tends to drop and days on the market continues to grow. It is still a fantastic time to sell in King County but you may want to consider doing these 5 easy steps to showcase your home in the best way possible if you plan to list this fall.
After 15 years of Real Estate in Seattle here are my MUST DO's:
· Start from the curb - We've all heard of curb appeal… Fall is a time more than ever you want to make your property shine!
Clean the gutters, power wash driveways, patios & walk ways, pick up the leaves. Add potted plants & flowers. Make it seasonal!
We all love to embrace the holidays…add festive flair to show off the ideas the next homeowner can do once they live in the house.
Most buyers fall in love with a house at first site!
· Add Color & Lights - in the Northwest, we can all be a little light deprived! Many buyers have walked away from a house they were seriously interested in simply because the house “feels dark.”
Make sure to open all the blinds and drapes, add a higher light bulb watt in darker areas of the home. Neutral colors tend to appeal to a larger audience, but if you can add color in an accent wall, go for it! Lighting is one of the easiest and effective way to set a mood.
· Have a treat out for potential buyers - this sounds so cliché, but who does love walking into a house with the aroma of fresh baked cookies? Especially as the days are colder and wet, have a nice for the potential buyers will sweeten up their viewing experience!
· DON’T compete with the Seahawks!
Yes, I said it- having an open house on the same day as the big game is a no-no! Make sure to look at the Seahawks & Husky schedule before your Realtor set the date for the open house!
· Price it right - Fall is a transitional time of year for real estate sales. You don’t want to list at the beginning of fall & sit on the market through Christmas!
