Local nonprofit WestSide Baby is launching their annual JOY drive on Giving Tuesday and encouraging local people to host collection drives, clear out and donate lightly used children’s items, or donate dollars to help kids in our community.
During December, WestSide Baby expects to serve 2800 children with items to keep them Safe, Warm and Dry. By supporting their efforts to distribute more than 80 car seats, 600 bags of clothing and 110,000 diapers this holiday season, you can give a gift that directly helps local families facing crises.
Here’s how to get involved:
· Organize a donation drive and launch it on Giving Tuesday: You can host a drive at home, at work, at a school or place of worship, or even throw a drive on Giving Tuesday and make it an event, have a dinner party, a playdate, or a dance party! The most needed items are Diapers, sizes NB, 5 and 6), Hygiene kits, Winter Coats, Pajamas, New Underwear, Pants up to size 12, Car Seats, Portable Cribs, New Socks, Strollers. From posters to social media templates, everything you need to host a drive is available on their website. If one day for a drive seems daunting, you can keep collecting into December!
· Spare a few hours on Giving Tuesday to clear out and donate lightly used items and equipment for children aged up to 12 at one of WestSide Baby’s drop off sites across the city.
· Donate dollars: An online donation of dollars will cover many of the items that are less popular to donate, such as car seats, underwear and hygiene supplies.
