A note of Simplicity and Clarity from your local Publisher Mom

By Mary Englin, Publisher November 5, 2020

Please settle in my Mac Kid Friend,

In what I think was late June of this year, (yes 2020, the year that feels like 5 years rolled into one,) I published the article Month 3: How West Seattle MK is moving forward and other thoughts.

We were still new to the pandemic but not new to stress, racial inequity, and political divide.  Our kids were just settling into really weird education systems, our small business community was mostly closed, and I literally had all virtual events on our Event Calendar.

Here we are in November, approaching (hopefully) results to one of the most divisive elections in history, and the new challenge of a "socially distanced" holiday season - HOWEVER - let's look at some silver linings or better yet "the simple things."

  • Our Community Small Businesses have preformed MIRACLES to open safely
  • We have made it clear we support our diverse community with our Anti-Racist Resources
  • Our kids are "managing" through virtual school
  • The Mac Kid Event Calendar now lists online AND in person events
  • I'm guessing everyone reading this has found fun ways to celebrate a big holiday (insert Halloween.)  It wasn't that bad socially distanced, right? We actually had a blast as a family at home - minus the scary movie I decided to sleep through! :) Nope, not for me.

These are really the simple things and they matter.  As we head into the Holiday Season I want to continue to keep things simple and clear.  I've used some of the very CLEAR wording from a fellow publisher because I cannot say this better.  If you're ever in New York with your kids, be sure to check out Macaroni Kid Long Beach - Oceanside - Rockville Center - and tell them WSMK sent ya!

For the sake of CLARITY, this is what West Seattle Macaroni Kid is about, now and moving forward:

SO, here goes....

You get what I'm saying. It's for grandma, grandpa, auntie or the babysitter.
