Every Sunday, Macaroni Kid West Seattle will share some of the best things to do with your kids in West Seattle over the coming week. This week, we're highlighting fun events and activities in the Seattle area that will start to get you into the Holiday mood.

1. West Seattle Art Walk- Free

Spend the evening strolling and exploring West Seattle while enjoying art, music, extended happy hours, plus food and beverage specials. Each month, our participating artists, businesses, and organizations plan events that celebrate our diverse art culture in West Seattle.

Dec 9: 5-10pm


2. Holiday Magic at the Washington State Fairgrounds- Paid

BIGGER, BETTER, BRIGHTER!  Don’t miss this magical holiday experience with breathtaking lights, interactive displays, festive food and drink and fun for the whole family. Take a wonder-filled stroll through magical lights, festive displays and holiday joy. This year's event will feature more light displays, interactive exhibits, an ice skating rink and more!

Enjoy amazing holiday experiences including ice skating, a spin on the merry-go-round, a ride on the Santa Express Train, drinks at The Yeti Bar and Fire Pit, shopping, festive food, drinks, displays and more! Celebrate this special time of year both indoors and outdoors.

3. Seattle Center Winterfest- Free

Throughout the five weeks of Winterfest, those in search of uplifting seasonal spirit or delightful diversion will find performances, our Winter Train & Village, ice sculpting and our annual campus lighting display.

4. Nutcracker Sweets Presented by ARC Dance- Paid

ARC Dance is excited to bring back its beloved, child-friendly, live Nutcracker Sweets this year. For the past 15 years, performances of this classic ballet featuring beloved characters Clara, the Nutcracker Prince, Drosselmeyer and the Sugar Plum Fairy have sold out. This revised 45-minute (no intermission, limited-capacity seating) performance will showcase the students of the School and members of the professional Company.

5. Visit the MaST for FREE on Discovery Days- Free

The MaST Center is open for public viewing Saturdays from 10 a.m. – 2 p.m.

The MaST Center is the marine biology and aquarium facility of Highline College. Dedicated to expanding knowledge about Puget Sound, the MaST Center serves as both formal teaching institute and public learning center. We are located 4 miles south of campus at Redondo Beach with easy access to a variety of nearby habitats.

Our 2,500 square-foot facility offers public space, classroom, laboratories, offices, research areas with state-of-the-art equipment and an aquarium. The Aquarium holds over 15 tanks totaling approximately 3,000 gallons of flow-through seawater, and displays over 250 native Puget Sound marine species.

6. PNW Reptile and Exotic Animal Show- Paid

PACNWRS is the largest reptile and exotic animal show in the Pacific NW. Thousands of animals to see, interact with, and purchase, along with products for their care. There is something for everyone in the family at PACNWRS.

PACNWRS is a public trade show exhibiting over 100 vendor tables. In addition to animals and their related products for sale, PACNWRS hosts some of the best educational reptile and mammal displays in the Pacific Northwest.

As a family-friendly event we try to provide activities and education for guests of all ages and interests.

7. ZooLights at Point Defiance Zoo & Aquarium- Paid

Magical lights and a classic holiday tradition - presented by BECU. Step back into the Zoolights tradition you know and love: your Zoo, transformed into a colorful winter wonderland with over 800,000 lights.

Nov 26 - Jan 2 (closed Christmas Eve and Christmas Day): 4:30pm-10pm


8. Georgetown ART ATTACK- Free

Georgetown is home to loads of galleries, studios, makers, and artists!
Come see what they’ve been up to this month.

9. Rainier Symphony's Annual Holiday Concert- Paid

Rainier Symphony is excited to announce our return to the stage!

Join us for our 41st season and a return to live music with our annual Holiday concert with special guest vocalists Blush Fox Trio. The concert will feature well known holiday favorites as well as a few gems you may not have heard before. The concert will be presented without an intermission and will last approximately 90 minutes.

10. La Posada at Highline Museum- Free

A rich Mexican Cultural holiday tradition for the whole family. La Posada features:

Cultural Workshops in Spanish

4:00 PM – 6:00 PM
La Posada : Procession
Pinatas, sweet bread, chocolate, and more!

This is a community project with Southwest Youth & Family Services, Para Los Ninos, City of Burien, Hector Colchones, Corazon.Arte.Cultura!
