Every Sunday, Macaroni Kid West Seattle will share some of the best things to do with your kids in West Seattle over the coming week. This week, we're highlighting fun events and activities in the Seattle area happening the week leading up to Winter Break.

1. Hora de Cuentos Familiar en Español (Spanish Story Time)- Free

Disfruten de cuentos interactivos, canciones y actividades para niños. Regístrense antes de las 12pm del día del evento. Recibirá un correo electrónico con el enlace de la reunión de Zoom una hora antes de que empiece el evento.

Enjoy stories, music, movement and rhymes that develop your child’s early literacy skills. Please register by 12pm on the day of the event. You will be emailed a Zoom link no later than one hour before the program start time.

2. Mariachi Sol de Mexico "Merry-Achi Christmas"- Paid

STG Presents Mariachi Sol de Mexico at The Neptune on December 14, 2021.

José Hernández is an eleven-time Grammy Award nominee and a master of mariachi music. He is a world-renowned musician, composer and music educator who also travels year-round teaching the art of mariachi music to new generations at schools across the United States and Mexico. He is founder of the world-famous Mariachi Sol de México and America’s first all-female professional mariachi ensemble Mariachi Reyna de Los Angeles.

Merry-Achi Christmas puts a mariachi spin on some of your favorite holiday tunes. Celebrate the beginning of the holiday season with Mariachi Sol de Mexico.

3. ZooLights at Point Defiance Zoo & Aquarium- Paid

Magical lights and a classic holiday tradition - presented by BECU. Step back into the Zoolights tradition you know and love: your Zoo, transformed into a colorful winter wonderland with over 800,000 lights.

4. 25th Annual Model Train Festival- Paid

The Model Train Festival brings railroad clubs from around Puget Sound to share their incredible layouts. Every floor of the museum comes alive with trains, from the Kitsap Live Steamers 7.5 inch gauge railroad engines to the Mount Rainier N-Scale layout featuring miniature scenery of Western Washington and so many more. Plus, the largest permanent model train layout in Washington is always on display at the museum on the fifth floor, operated by Puget Sound Model Railroad Engineers. Train operators will be on hand for questions and conversations.

This joyful event wouldn’t be complete without a holiday photo opportunity! Although Santa will not be able to visit this year (being conscientious about COVID safety), we will have a festive seasonal photo backdrop for free selfies.

5. Jurassic Quest- Paid

6. Holiday Magic at the Washington State Fairgrounds- Paid

New Festive Walk-Thru Experience

7. A Laurie Berkner Virtual Family Concert - Holiday Party!- Paid

Sing, dance, and play interactive games through your device with Laurie Berkner (plus some special guests) as they perform your favorite songs, interact with you through the computer, and bring in a few surprises – from Laurie’s house to yours! This special virtual concert event is the 10th in this series, and your ticket helps support the team in continuing operations while we can’t tour.

Join us for the hour before the concert for some fun pre-show activities and to make sure your stream is working smoothly!

Bring your holiday cheer, your dancin’ shoes, an animal (for your head), and your whole family! Laurie will be singing some greatest hits alongside special holiday-themed songs.

9. The Santa House- Free Photos with Santa- Free

We are excited to partner with the Renton Civic Theatre to bring you FREE photos with Santa in 2021. Mark your calendars now because the holidays will be here before you know it! 

Bring your children and four-legged friends to capture holiday moments with Santa. Santa’s House will be open the first three Saturdays in December and the Sunday evening before Christmas. Photos can be downloaded for free on the event facebook page.  Prints will be available for purchase for a suggested donation.

10. Seattle Men's Chorus presents Snow Business- Paid

There’s no business like Snow Business!

The Seattle Men’s Chorus is BACK, merrier than ever.

They’re naughty. They’re nice. And they’re singing their way through a wonderland filled with holiday cheer.

There’s White Christmas, a rollicking, fresh arrangement of Jingle Bells, and a brand new carol from the composer of Frozen.
