Every Sunday, Macaroni Kid West Seattle will share some of the best things to do with your kids in West Seattle over the coming week. This week, we're highlighting fun events and activities in the Seattle area happening the week leading up to Christmas and Kwanzaa.

1. Tinkergarten's Lantern Walk- Free

The annual Tinkergarten Lantern Walk has become a magical tradition, designed to help kids big and small, welcome the darkness of winter and learn to embrace this big, natural change together with joy. This event is free and open to all! Register for the walk in advance. You can also learn more about the Lantern Walk, how to make your own lanterns and even purchase an official lantern-making kit!!

2. West Seattle Grounds Gingerbread Decorating Contest- Paid

Join us for our first Extreme Makeover Gingerbread Edition! Purchase a gingerbread house, then design, create and enter it into the judging arena. All in good fun and of course there will be prizes!

3. Black Santa in Burien- Free

Black Santa is back and he’s bringing his snowglobe to Burien!  Register in advance to get photos with Santa when he hangs out at Classic Eats Restaurant on Monday, December 20 from 5-8pm.  It’s fun, totally free and still socially distanced safe!

4. Holiday Portrait Pop-Up at Fauntleroy Schoolhouse- Paid

Our delightful schoolhouse setup will feature a new designer backdrop with Christmas accents. We look forward to seeing many of you again as we know this has become a holiday tradition. Your child/ren can explore the scene, throw some snowballs, ride a firetruck, read a book and enjoy a candy cane before settling in for a cozy family photo. You might want to bring your child’s favorite teddy bear, a wrapped present, or little red trike to make it truly your own. Only $45 per session.

5. Tis The Season- Momentum Dance Recital- Paid

Join our Contemporary, Hip Hop, Irish, Jazz, Tap, Theatre, and Creative Dance dancers for a festive seasonal celebration on Monday, December 20th, 2021, and Tuesday December 21st, 2021 at 6:00 pm (seating opens at 5:30 pm).

6. Burien Winter Farmers Market- Free

The Burien Farmers Market is a community icon among locals and supports small family farms, local businesses, and helps feed people healthy, nutritious food. In response to COVID-19, the Burien Farmers Market has been working diligently with the King County Health Department and other local partners to create a modified market that ensures the health and safety of its vendors and shoppers.

7. Photos with Santa Claus and the Grinch- Paid

Stephanie’s Lifeline partners with Livia Behavioral Counseling to bring you Santa Claus photos with all proceeds going directly back to Stephanie’s Lifeline's programs that help low-income, homeless, and at-risk youth and families in King Co.

Stop by and get your photo taken with our bi-racial Santa Claus or the Grinch for ONLY $10 per photo. For one day only.

Donuts and hot chocolate will be available at no cost. Hope to see you there!

8. "We've Battled Monsters Before" at Arts West- Paid

When you’re the youngest sibling in a family of secret warriors who for generations have protected Seattle from monsters and demons, living up to your Lola’s expectations is, in a word, daunting. Adarna’s mistakes were cute at first, but when they begin to cost her family more than she ever imagined, she must decide what she would sacrifice to save them. Loosely adapted from the 16th century Filipino epic poem  Ibong Adarna, playwright-composer-lyricist Justin Huertas returns to his  Lizard Boy roots with a sweet and intimate actor-musician musical adventure.

9. West Seattle Farmer's Market- Free

Nestled in the heart of the West Seattle Junction between Alaska and California Avenues, The West Seattle Farmers Market is a beloved Sunday ritual and weekend destination for families across South Seattle.

Dec 26: 10am-2pm


10. Christmas In Color- Paid

Drive through millions of lights perfectly synchronized to holiday music you’ll hear right through your radio. Drive by giant candy canes, snowmen, arched pathways and more. Take your time enjoying this lighting extravaganza - we won’t judge you if you join the kids with your face pressed against the window!
