Best Summer Sunset Spots in West Seattle!

By Ashley Marion - Publisher West Seattle June 26, 2024

There's something magical about summer sunsets. As the sun dips below the horizon, painting the sky in hues of orange, pink, and purple, the world feels serene and full of wonder. Whether you're a romantic soul, a photography enthusiast, or simply someone who appreciates nature's beauty, finding the perfect spot to watch the sunset can make your summer evenings truly unforgettable.

Here in the Pacific Northwest, we are lucky to get some of the most beautiful sunsets imaginable!

Looking for ways to get out of the house, to do less dishes, and to sweep less floors? What better way to check all these boxes than a beautiful summer sunset dinner picnic?

Check out the list below for some of the BEST spots to catch a sunset in West Seattle!

1. Alki Beach

This classic Seattle summer destination is definitely a great place to watch a vibrant sunset. With a large beach, various restaurants and coffee shops, and beach volleyball courts, you can't go wrong. Bring some containers and collect rocks or shells from the beach or watch some beautiful local birds including the double-crested Cormorant and the American White Pelican.

2. Lincoln Park

One of my FAVORITE places to be during the summer is Lincoln Park. This incredible park boasts over 4.6 miles of walking paths, bike trails, five picnic shelters, a hand carry boat launch and an outdoor heated saltwater pool!

Watch a ferry take off from Fauntleroy terminal or visit Bruun Idun, a Northwest Troll installment by Thomas Dambo!

3. Seahurst Beach Park

My personal favorite place to see the sunset is Seahurst Beach. With a vast beach perfect for a nice evening stroll, a beachside playground, wetlands and forest trails, you can find something for everyone here. Along the rocky beach, there is so much to explore. Keep your eye out for sea creatures such as jellyfish, seals and whales! The beach has lots of logs for sitting and enjoying the view. During summer days, you can find Beach Naturalists here sharing free information about low tide and the environment. Check out the Macaroni Kid West Seattle Event Calendar for more Seattle Aquarium Beach Naturalist program information.
